Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI)

Connect with Young Entreprenuers

The Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) is a professional exchange program that supports innovative entrepreneurs across the Western Hemisphere. The initiative is designed to strengthen leadership capacity, advance entrepreneurial ventures, and promote social and economic development through practical, hands-on experience.

The Georgia Council for International Visitors (GCIV) hosts YLAI Fellows in Georgia as part of a structured, four-week professional exchange spanning a wide range of industries.

Who Participates?

YLAI Fellows are competitively selected entrepreneurs between the ages of 25-35 who are recognized as high-impact, mid-career leaders. YLAI Fellows represent 37 countries across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada, and are actively working to promote economic growth and innovation in their home communities.

International Visitors Experience

During their four-week exchange in Georgia, YLAI Fellows are placed with U.S.-based host organizations aligned with their business sector. Fellows gain:

  • Hands-on professional experience

  • Exposure to U.S. business practices and organizational culture

  • Targeted leadership and entrepreneurial development

Each YLAI Fellow works closely with their host organization to develop an Entrepreneurial Leadership Action Plan (E-LAP)—a practical roadmap that the fellow implements upon returning home.

Role of Georgia Hosts

Host organizations play a central role in the YLAI experience. By welcoming a YLAI Fellow into their workplace, hosts introduce cross-cultural learning into their organization while building meaningful professional relationships with emerging global entrepreneurs.

Community engagement strengthens the exchange by creating opportunities for dialogue, mentorship, and collaboration beyond the workplace.

Global Impact

YLAI exchanges generate long-term impact by equipping fellows with skills, networks, and strategies they apply directly in their home countries. At the same time, U.S. host organizations benefit from new perspectives, international connections, and a deeper understanding of global markets and innovation ecosystems.
