The Atlanta Council on International Relations is a non profit and non-partisan educational organization that promotes understanding of international affairs through the free exchange of ideas. The purpose of the Council is to help opinion leaders develop a nucleus of informed opinion on current issues of foreign policy. Membership in the Council is selective, and is composed of men and women in business, the professions, academia, government, the media and other fields. In addition, many members of the professional Consular Corps based in Atlanta are members.

The Council meets six to eight times per year, with a diplomat, academician, journalist, politician or other invited guest speaker with expertise in international affairs. Each presentation is made on a not-for-attribution basis in order to encourage open discussion. The speaker devotes approximately one half of his/her time to prepare material, and remaining half to answer questions from the Council members.

Dues: $50 (12-month individual membership)

Meetings: The meetings convene at the Capital City Club, in downtown Atlanta, at 11:45 a.m., and include lunch. The cost of the meal is normally $25 for members and $35 for guests. The meeting adjourns promptly at 1:45 p.m. For information on the next meeting, please see Events, GCIV calendar.

The International Issues Forum is an ongoing discussion group that meets year- round. It is composed of people of all ages who are interested in current events, foreign policy as well as domestic issues.
