Shell Stuart
Executive Director

In her role as Executive Director of the Georgia Council for International Visitors, Shell oversees the design of professional visits to the state of Georgia for current and emerging international leaders.

Shell has extensive experience in international exchange management and education, and previously served as GCIV’s Director of International Visitor Programs. Prior to joining the GCIV staff at the end of 2002, Shell coordinated citizen exchange programs between the U.S. and Cuba, China, and the Middle East, when she had the opportunity to accompany former President Jimmy Carter on his historic diplomatic visit to Cuba. She recently served as Vice Chair of Atlanta’s Advisory Committee on International Relations.

Shell holds degrees in Linguistics, Education, and Foreign Languages and Literatures, and taught high school Spanish and Japanese near Seattle before moving to Atlanta. She is an active volunteer with the Southern Center for International Studies and the alumni association of the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program.
