Overview: Founded in 1962, the Georgia Council for International Visitors (GCIV) is a non-profit, community based organization. GCIV is responsible for designing and implementing professional programs and providing home hospitality opportunities for foreign leaders and scholars who are participants in the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program and other international exchange programs.

The International Visitor Leadership Program is more than 50 years old and famous alumni of the program include: Prime Minister Tony Blair; former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher; Boutros Boutros-Gali; Anwar Sadat; Indira Gandhi; and Oscar Arias.
GCIV is part of a national network, the National Council for International Visitors (NCIV), headquartered in Washington, D.C. GCIV is supported by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, corporate sponsors, foundations, and individuals.

International Visitor Leadership Program Intern
Position Description
Work with the IVLP Programming staff on short/long term assignments, including:
- Assist in coordinating professional appointments, logistical arrangements, cultural activities, and home hospitality for international visitors;
- Help arrange GCIV community and educational programs;
- Expand the current pool of resources through research;
- Share daily administrative chores (copying, filing, updating database).
Intern Qualifications
- Proficiency in MS Office (including Access)
- Proficiency in Internet research
- Ability to perform detailed-oriented work under minimum supervision
- Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Positive attitude
- Background and interest in international affairs
Time/Benefits
- 12 week internship period
- Minimum 15 hours/week commitment
- Participate in GCIV community programs
- Stipend available upon successful completion of the internship
