Consular Ball Attendees Enjoy World Music at 27th Annual Gala
World music was the theme of the evening on Saturday, March 8, when 400 leaders from Atlanta's international, cultural, civic, and business communities arrived at the beautiful new Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center to enjoy the annual black-tie affair that GCIV proudly sponsors each spring to honor the men and women serving as Consular representatives in Georgia. Ugandans Learn about Civil Rights History and Interfaith Efforts in Atlanta
In January GCIV had the opportunity to host a distinguished delegation of government officials, NGO leaders, and teachers from Uganda who came to Atlanta to look at Muslim life in the U.S. The group was participating in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program.
Many members of the delegation heard stories about Muslims being afraid to practice their religion openly in the United States, and were afraid of what they might encounter. After spending three weeks in this country, they concluded that very vibrant and healthy Muslim communities thrived in the Unites States, and that many were party of an energetic interfaith movement. introductory language courses, and conversations with members of Atlanta's distinguished Consular Corps. The event, held at Georgia State University, was the culmination of International Education Week for the city of Atlanta. Click here to read more about the day's events.

Chinese Public Health Officials Exchange Experiences with Atlanta Counterparts
GCIV had the pleasure of hosting six Chinese regional public health officials August 8-11. These six visitors were participants of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. The participants were all representatives of the
Shenyang Center for Disease Control, a central player in public health planning and emergency preparedness in Northeast China. The delegation had the opportunity to meet with many professional counterparts in Atlanta during their stay. Read more about their trip to Atlanta.

Jordanian Educators Seek E-Learning Insight in Atlanta
GCIV hosted seven visitors from Jordan who came to Atlanta to study e-learning in secondary education August 18-22, 2007. The group consisted of public school teachers who are implementing e-learning systems in Jordan. While participating in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, the group met with their U.S. counterparts to explore current trends in design and development of project-based
