In October GCIV hosted Mr. Matthew Waldman of the United Kingdom. Mr. Waldman is the Foreign Affairs advisor for Britain's 3rd largest political party, the Liberal Democrats. The purpose of his visit was to examine US Foreign Policy and security priorities.
While in Georgia, Mr. Waldman met with an array of professionals from Nobel Prize nominee Dr. John Endicott of Georgia Tech to representatives of the International Rescue Committee. Mr. Waldman also travelled with some GCIV staff and several members of Envoy (GCIV's Young Professionals group) down to Plains, GA to attend Former President Jimmy Carter's

Sunday School Class. While in Plains, Mr. Waldman became fascinated with Southern culture and hospitality. He took the opportunity to learn about the American Civil War and visited the Andersonville National Historic Site.
Mr. Waldman's professional meetings in Atlanta focused on the topics of terrorism, human rights, nuclear proliferation, and democracy. He met with faculty at Georgia Tech and Georgia State, representatives of the International Rescue Committee and CARE, and the Executive Director of The Carter Center.
