HIV/AIDS. Afterwards, they met with representatives from the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness. Here they were able to look at the current status of HIV/AIDS in Fulton County as well as the many HIV prevention services. They also were able to meet with staff in HIV Treatment and Primary Care. To end the day, they met with representatives from both the HIV Section and the Emergency Operations Center at the Georgia Division of Public Health.
The next day, they began at Emory again, meeting with Dr. Brent Johnson, a Biostatistics professor. He was able to discuss HIV/AIDS treatment strategies with the delegates. Afterwards, they met with many representatives from Morehouse School of Medicine. They looked at HIV/AIDS research at MSM as well as their Emergency Preparedness Project. They also discussed areas of potential collaboration between MSM and The Shenyang CDC. Next they met with Ms. Jane Lawson of the Emory Vaccine Center, where they were able to tour all the labs and meet with each Lab Director. Finally, they were able to discuss the work of the Grady Infectious Disease Clinic of providing comprehensive care to those with infectious diseases with Ms. Carla Johnson.
GCIV was honored to have these distinguished visitors come to Atlanta and meet with our many valuable professional resources. Their experiences here in gave them a first-hand view of public health in the United States and gave them some new ideas to take with them back to the Shenyang Center for Disease Control.
