Monday, June 16th - One guest from Montenegro would like to experience home hospitality with GCIV hosts. His program in the U.S. will focus on museum administration and information technology. He is available for home hospitality at 6:30 PM, and may be accompanied by an interpreter.

Sunday, June 22nd - Nine guests from Belgium, Finland, Greece, Portugal, Russia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom would like to experience home hospitality with GCIV hosts. Their program in the U.S. will focus on aviation and environmental policies. They are available for home hospitality at 6:00 PM, and will not be accompanied by an interpreter.

Please note: Home hospitality opportunities are available to GCIV members only. Hosts are asked to provide transportation to and from the hotel on the evening of home hospitality. If you are interested in hosting visitors in your home for dinner on these dates, please contact

GCIV is proud to announce that Atlanta has been selected as the host city for the National Council for International Visitors' 2008 Southern Regional Meeting. This event will bring together the national network responsible for implementing the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program. Fellow CIV representatives from the southern region and around the country will join Washington, DC Program Agency and Department of State colleagues in Atlanta August 6-8, 2008. In hosting this meeting GCIV will showcase the best our city and state have to offer our international exchange participants. Former Turkish Ambassadors Share Foreign Policy Outlook with Atlantans

GCIV hosted two former Turkish ambassadors participating in the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program May 6-8. While on this trip, Ambassadors Ahmet Aksoy and Osman Arim represented the Foreign Policy Institute at Bilkent University in Ankara. They had the opportunity to meet with their professional counterparts and engage in dialogue with local citizens. Click here to read more about their program in Atlanta.


Bangladeshi Delegation Experiences Memorial Day in Atlanta

GCIV was honored to host a delegation of seven government and NGO officials from Bangladesh over the recent holiday weekend. The group came to Atlanta to meet with professional counterparts and discuss human rights and the U.S. judicial system. They enjoyed their professional appointments and found a unique insight into American culture when they had the opportunity to spend Memorial Day at Stone Mountain Park. Youth For Understanding is currently seeking host families for the 2008-09 school year. It has dedicated itself for over fifty years to helping students and families around the world to better understand and perceive a much more interconnected world. YFU offers the opportunity to discover new traditions and experience unique cultures by hosting an exchange student. They also offer opportunities to travel abroad as an exchange student to thirty-five different countries.
