"As I travel often across borders, my global colleagues, partners and clients frequently remind me of how lucky we are in Atlanta to have the GCIV. For example, both the public and private sector in China are regularly seeking to organize and create experiences to interact with the world in a way similar to those that we in Atlanta have at our fingertips through GCIV. Through its professional delivery of the world to Atlanta's doorsteps, the GCIV, with its unique capacity and in a manner impossible to duplicate, offers a distinct advantage to those with global interests."

Georgia Gives Day: November 12, 2015
GCIV is proud to be a part of Georgia Gives Day, a one-day on-line fundraising event conducted by the GA Center for Nonprofits. Our goal is to to raise $5,000 that will go toward enhancing and expanding one of our distinct educational citizen diplomacy programs, Today I Met...

Today I Met... is an award-winning, unique education initiative connecting global professionals to students in Georgia's public and private schools. The experiences for both the students and international visitors are incomparable, providing opportunities for each to learn from the others' perspective, while introducing Georgia's students to emerging world leaders, foreign affairs, first-hand accounts of current events, and increased understanding of different cultures and points of view.

Your contribution on Georgia Gives Day allows GCIV to realize our mission of creating valuable international experiences for our young citizens, and opportunities for the people of Georgia and emerging leaders around the world.

Two Other Easy Ways to Give to GCIV!
Two Other Easy Ways to Give to GCIV!
With the holiday season fast approaching, it's inevitable that you will probably need to shop! Wouldn't it be great if you could both save money, and also GIVE to help make the world a better place, at NO extra cost?

Goodshop is an online shopping mall that will donate a percent of your purchase price to GCIV when you shop at one of 3,000+ partner stores including top retailers like Amazon (1.5% donation), Expedia (up to 5% donation), and Staples (2.5% donation). You can also find 25,000+ active discounts and money-saving coupons so you can save money and give back at the same time! There is no cost and the experience of shopping through Goodshop is exactly the same as going to the retailer directly, except that you have the added bonus that through your shopping, you can earn donations for your favorite cause (the Georgia Council for International Visitors)!

Similarly, AmazonSmile will automatically donate 0.5% of your purchases to the charitable organization that you select (GCIV!). It costs you (and us) nothing, and when you shop at smile.amazon.com, you'll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to GCIV. To get started, simply log on to smile.amazon.com and select the Georgia Council for International Visitors as your charitable organization. AmazonSmile will remember your selection, and subsequently every eligible purchase that you make will result in a donation to GCIV.

Who would have thought that shopping could make such a world of difference?!

Donate Your Appreciated Stock to GCIV
We are pleased to announce that GCIV can now accept your donations of publicly-traded stock. This alternative to making cash donations provides significant benefits to both GCIV and the donors, as it usually enables the donors to give more money to the charity than they would if they sold the stocks on their own, paid taxes on the gains, and then donated the remaining cash to the organization.

The donor can deduct the current fair market value of the stock as their charitable donation, without paying the capital gains taxes that would apply if they sold the stock themselves. GCIV benefits by receiving the current market value of the stock.

For further information about making a donation to GCIV in the form of stock, please contact the Treasurer, Bruce Taylor at brucektaylor@gmail.com.
