Discover Diplomacy
On May 2 – 4, GCIV members and staff participated in the first annual Discover Diplomacy weekend in Washington, DC. The program was organized by Global Ties US, and over 60 citizen diplomats from around the country came to Washington, DC! Participants got an insider’s view of diplomacy from experts and a Member of Congress. They toured embassies, the U.S. Department of State, and experienced home hospitality with professionals in the international exchange community.

We are partnering with the organizers of the Atlanta International Soccer Fest (AISF 2014) on Friday, June 13 for a viewing party of the Spain vs. Netherlands match. Get to know other young professionals involved in GCIV and find out what exciting opportunities we have planned for you this year. Network with members of European chambers of commerce, and catch "world cup fever" with local soccer fans!

June’s International Dining Experience is Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 6:30 PM at Ammazza.

We are hosting 5 visitors from Germany, Malta, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. Their program focuses on U.S.-European security issues. The price is $25 for members and $35 for non-members. This includes an appetizer, entrée, a non-alcoholic beverage, tax, and gratuity.

Space is limited and you must RSVP to attend.

Dinner Hospitality Opportunities
Thursday, June 5 - Six journalists from Germany would like to experience dinner hospitality with GCIV hosts in Atlanta. They are participating in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program focusing on journalism and social integration and are available at 6:30 PM for dinner. The delegation may be split into groups of 3 visitors per host.

Wednesday, June 11 - Eight NGO leaders, government officials, religious leaders, and businessmen from Bangladesh, Egypt, Estonia, Morocco, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Rwanda and Tajikistan would like to experience dinner hospitality with GCIV hosts in Atlanta. They are participating in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program focusing on tourism and are available at 6:30 PM for dinner. The delegation may be split into groups of 3-4 visitors per host.

Thursday, June 12 - One visitor from the Philippines would like to experience dinner hospitality with GCIV hosts in Atlanta. He/she is participating in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program focusing on transparency in government and is available at 6:30 PM for dinner.

Monday, June 16 - Three government officials, one university lecturer, and one law enforcement official from Germany, Malta, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden would like to experience dinner hospitality with GCIV hosts in Atlanta. They are participating in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program focusing on US/European security and are available at 6:30 PM for dinner. The delegation may be split into groups of 2-3 visitors per host.

Dinner hospitality opportunities are available to GCIV members only. To become a GCIV member, please click here. FIFA World Cup™ Celebration with a Purpose!
Atlanta International Soccer Fest (AISF 2014) to take place on June 7, 2014

On Saturday, June 7, over 20 youth and adult teams representing more than a dozen nationalities and four continents will participate in a one-day charity soccer tournament at the Atlanta Silverbacks Park. All proceeds of the festival will be donated to SOS Children’s Villages, the world’s largest organization dedicated to vulnerable children!

The event offers free family fun for all ages including international food trucks, a cultural showcase and performances by Brazilian and Caribbean groups, a kids’ zone and face painting, interactive sports games with the Atlanta Sports and Social Club, classic FIFA World Cup™ games on large TV screens, and much more.

CCI-GreenHeart is currently seeking volunteer host families to experience culture from other parts of the world. We have students from China, Mongolia, Brazil, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Russia, Czech Republic, Taiwan, Japan, Egypt, West Bank and Israel for the school year, first or second semesters. AFS Student Exchange for High Schoolers
AFS Intercultural Exchange Programs in Georgia is currently seeking host families for the 2014-15 school year. Whether you are in your 20s or 70s, have children or not, live alone or with a roommate, you are the perfect family for an AFS high school student! AFS has more than 60 trained Atlanta volunteers supporting host families and students before, during, and after the experience.
