2013 Annual Report

In fiscal year 2013, GCIV welcomed 667 overseas visitors through the International Visitor Leadership Program and various fee-for-service programs. These visitors came to Georgia on 78 different programs, ranging from individuals to groups of 20 or more. Participants represented 134 different countries.

We’d like to thank our professional program hosts for their ongoing support and for dedicating time, effort and resources to meeting with our international visitors week after week, month after month. We truly couldn’t do our work without you!

A big ’thank you’ as well to our dozens of volunteer home hosts, who provide dinner and hospitality to our visiting delegations.


2014 Great Decisions Lecture Series

Increase your awareness and understanding of global issues through this eight-week lectures series.

Great Decisions is based on a briefing book published annually by the nonpartisan Foreign Policy Association and encourages participants to develop an informed opinion on the role the United States should play in world affairs.

The lectures are Thursdays, January 16 - March 6, 2014 at 7:30 PM at the Dunwoody United Methodist Church.

Dinner Hospitality Opportunities

Sunday, January 19 - Two visitors from Italy would like to experience dinner hospitality with GCIV hosts in Atlanta. They are participating in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program focusing on foreign policy and are available at 5:00 PM for dinner. They will be accompanied by one interpreter.

Monday, January 20 - Ten visitors from Macedonia would like to experience dinner hospitality with GCIV hosts in Atlanta. They are participating in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program focusing on dealing with the past and are available at 6:00 PM for dinner. The delegation may be split into groups of 4-5 visitors per host and will be accompanied by an interpreter.

Wednesday, January 29 - Five visitors from Belarus would like to experience dinner hospitality with GCIV hosts in Atlanta. They are participating in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program focusing on early detection of cancer and are available at 6:00 PM for dinner. The delegation may be split into groups of 2-3 visitors per host and will be accompanied by an interpreter.

Dinner hospitality opportunities are available to GCIV members only. Hosts are asked to provide transportation to and from the hotel on the day of dinner hospitality. If you are interested in hosting or cohosting, please contact emily@gciv.org or 404-832-5560 x15. Once you have signed up to host, we’ll provide a CultureGram for the corresponding countries.

AFS Student Exchange for High Schoolers
AFS Intercultural Exchange Programs in Georgia is currently seeking host families for the 2013-14 school year. Whether you are in your 20s or 70s, have children or not, live alone or with a roommate, you are the perfect family for an AFS high school student! AFS has more than 60 trained Atlanta volunteers supporting host families and students before, during, and after the experience.
